Agent Lynn

By Matt Cowger, (c) 1998

REAL NAME: Sandy Pikonen

OCCUPATIONEPA Environmental Scientist

EDUCATION: Biochemistry Ph.D., University of Colorado

SPECIALTIES: Laboratory Analysis

BACKGROUND: Sandy Pikonen was always more comfortable in a lab then anywhere else. She had a deep love of ideas and an appreciation for nature that precluded much else in her life. This earned her some ridicule from her peers growing up, and her high-school years were a pretty lonely affair. She graduated early and went to college to get away from teenage social games. It was in college that she finally found a group that she really felt she could mesh with, a group of radical wanna-be ecoterrorists who took the budding young scientist into their fold. She at last felt she fit in somewhere.

Sandy was torn between her studies and a desire to throw herself more fervently towards “the cause.” She engaged in a number of illegal sabotage runs with the other members of the group until an accident happened. While trying to damage some pieces of highway machinery one of the group set off a large fertilizer bomb, killing himself and severly injuring another member of the group. Sandy fled, and with dilligent lying was able to avoid any legal entaglements. She threw herself into her studies after this, graduating at the top of her class.

After drifting for a bit she took a job with the EPA, hoping to legally accomplish what she almost was arrested for four years previous. She was a serious worker, but a bit distant from her peers. This distance turned to her advantage when she discovered a member of the agency was covering for a local industrialist. She detected the firm deliberatly releasing a strange biological agent (bits of shoggoth tissue) into the water supply of a small town. Her investigations revealed a conspiracy within the EPA to cover this event up. She was put into the witness protection program for a brief time and was the target of at least one assassination attempt. With time, the criminals were found and tried and Pikonen was allowed to return to her job. She had attracted the attention of more then criminals and cultists, though, and within six months was contacted by members of Delta Green. After being shown corroberating evidence of a similar event in another small midwestern town, Sandy was convinced and discovered, at long last, another cause with which she could apply herself, feel like she belonged to, and that also had an air of mystery.

Sandy is a deligent researcher but intensly dislikes violence and refuses to go on outings that will lead to it. She does not carry a weapon of any sort. She is an incredible source of scientific knowledge and analysis but must be dealt with a bit cautiously; she’s known to have the occasional breakdown.
