Anomaly #0055

In January of this year a small archaeological find was made in the vicinity of Jerusalem, in Israel. A battle site from the First Crusade was unearthed approximately 25 miles outside of the city. Several underground caves were found containing armored bodies and horse skeletons, most in a remarkably preserved state. Several manuscripts were also uncovered.

Two months after this discovery, the archaeologist in charge–one Prof. Samuel Taylor–disappeared. Also reported missing were two other members of the dig team, the semi-mummified corpse of a tenth-century knight, and several of the uncovered manuscripts.

Ten days after that, Prof. Taylor’s office at Boston University was broken into under very mysterious circumstances, and several deaths were involved. This is what has called the attention of Delta Green. Fred Brath, one of the faculty of the Department of Anthropology, is a DG friendly involved in translating several Arabic documents.

It has been discovered that Prof. Taylor was involved in Project: REDLIGHT, and that he left the project under mysterious conditions and was believed deceased. It has also been discovered that he knows something about the operations of the Greys because of a document retrieved from certain classified archives. The body of the message is as follows:

JUSTIN KROFT, I KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THEM I KNOW YOUR SECRET AND THEIRS I KNOW THAT WHEN YOU DIE THEY WILL COME BACK TO THE OLD WAYS AND I WILL BE FAVORED LIKE MY FATHER YOU HAVE STOLEN THEIR LIGHT FROM US AND YOU SHALL PAY FOR YOUR BLASPHEMY AND YOUR LIES – S.T. INSTRUMENT OF OUR WILL

From this evidence it might be guessed that Prof. Taylor is not mentally stable. Further investigation and agent assignment are suggested.

Samuel Taylor is the son of a long line of Mi-Go cultists from rural Massachusetts, and well remembers the ceremonies and rites preformed by his father and grandfather. In his duties at Project: REDLIGHT as a research physicist reconstructing the grey’s craft, he encountered strange markings that reminded him of his father’s ceremonies. Later in life he became a field archaeologist and this path eventually led to his findings in Israel, which included several Mythos manuscripts containing references to (among other things) the Mi-Go, once again triggering his memories. These documents have driven him insane, and he is now operating on half-remembered mumblings of the power of the Great Ones from his father, who was a cultist of the Mi-Go and Nyarlathotep. He plans to kill all of MJ-12 and reveal their unfaithfulness so the Mi-Go have no choice but to come back to the human cults that they have practically abandoned in the last few decades. He is being prodded along this course by Nyarlathotep, who is sending him dreams of his father’s pride in his actions and the power the Mi-Go will give him when they return their favor.

Prof. Taylor is extremely dangerous, having at his disposal several spells, ghouls, an undead crusades-era knight, knowledge of MJ-12 activities, and the intelligence to use them effectively. This could be a very interesting scenario, putting Delta Green agents in the position of having to defend MJ-12 agents against an unknown element.
