A few things before the game tonight…

First, a general note: I would recommend dropping back a bit and
letting the FBI lead this manhunt. They’re the experts in this sort of
thing. I think we should lie low, rest up from our ordeal (how long has
it been since we’ve slept?), and be ready to move at a moment’s notice
if Galt is located. There’s so much ground to cover here I think we’d
be better off staying close to a waiting helo so we can pounce if the
FBI or state or local cops find our villain.

That said, there are number of things I’d like to do. Most
importantly is to make sure the full resources available are mustered
and directed to the manhunt (roadblocks, media coverage, helos with FLIR
searching the woods, dog and tracker teams, etc). In addition, a SWAT
team (State Police? HRT?) with a helo standing by to grab Galt when
he’s located. This also involves smoothing over any unpleasant
questions which are raised relating to the incidents at ABC and Missoula
and our involvement in them. I’ll do a lot Fast-Talking and Persuading.
I’ll direct any questions of wrongdoing onto Galt, who I’ll characterize
as a right-wing wacko who had some decent funding and was apparently
trying to create a Tokyo-subway type event with toxic chemicals from
ABC. In short, if someone gripes about (for instance) the carnage at
Missoula or the plant I’ll twist things around to place all of the blame
on Galt. I’ll gladly assist any assistance Drake can offer in this
area.

Some other, specific things which need to be done:

At the site where the broken glass and spent 9mm casings were found:
Get an FBI or State Police forensics team here ASAP. They should study
glass fragments and tire tracks to try to ascertain make & model of
vehicle. Also, study shell casings to determine as much as possible
about the weapon which fired them. Send all evidence to crime lab right
away for further investigation & analysis. Are there any fingerprints?
I’m sure this will take hours, at least, but we need this information
yesterday, so I’ll try and expedite it however I can. This is far and
away our most important lead, so I’ll direct whatever efforts I can
towards getting it done.

The crowd at the ABC plant needs to be interviewed. I’d like to
locate anyone who might have seen Galt with Turner and/or Deschiel, even
if only briefly–maybe someone who met the helicopter is still alive?
They then need to work with a composite sketch artist to get a picture
of Galt. If they saw several Germans together we’ll ask them to work up
a drawing of the oldest one they saw, or the one who seemed to be in
charge. If this Galt is the kind of character I suspect he is, he
wouldn’t be too tough to pick out of a crowd… We’ll also talk to the
helo rental company at Missoula airport, see if anyone there can do this
too. The idea is to get a sketch of Galt (even a bad one) and to begin
circulating it as “John Doe”, wanted for murder in connection with the
violent incident at Missoula Airport. I don’t suppose any of the
security videos at the ABC plant survived? Those might show him…

Lastly, full-court press on right-wing extremist and especially
neo-Nazi groups in and around Montana (surveillance, calling stoolies,
rounding up the usual suspects…). If Galt is trying to go to ground
with them, we want to be watching.
