‘Dead Letter’ 1997 playtest logs: Session 6

Previously:

Lundquist : Hi everyone
SGlancy12 : And away we go!
SGlancy12 : Last time I checked you fools were piling into a
Blackhawk and off in hot pursuit!
Lundquist : Very Starsky & Hutch-esque
Dee : Heh. How’s my big curly hair?
Black : don’t forget chips. But we need a HUGE accident to
be chipish
SGlancy12 : Doesn’t the plant going up count?
Lundquist : I’d say so…
Lundquist : Especially since we got clear “just in time”!
SGlancy12 : Actually you stood around for 5 minutes before it
blew, but close enough.
Lundquist : We’ll fix that in editing.
Lundquist : How far head start does the Jetranger have? Can we
overtake them before they get to Missoula?
Dee : Okay. Before we pile in, I want to make sure we get
some extra muscle to pile in as well.
SGlancy12 : You got a crew of 3 USAF.
Dee : Specifically, the MPs who were with us when we saw
the eviscerated bodies.
SGlancy12 : Okay. There are 4 MPs who were with you. The rest
were FBI.
Black : anyways does this tin can have weapons on it. I
really do not want to go down in a blaze of
Black : glory
SGlancy12 : You’ve got 1 M-60 machine gun as a weapon.
Lundquist : I guess I’d like to commandeer an M-16 if I can.
Black : let’s hope the bad guys does have any air to air
rockets or missles
Dee : Well, they rented their helicopter, so I doubt they
have anything mounted.
Dee : No telling what they brought with them, though.
SGlancy12 : Two FBI went in the 1st chopper with 5 MPs.
SGlancy12 : That leaves 3FBI here and 10 MPs here.
Dee : Did any of the FBI agents see the lab when we entered
it?
Dee : The weird animals, mutilated bodies, etc?
SGlancy12 : No I don’t think so.
Black : well if they brought enough explosive to level the
lab then the odds are that they are
Black : prepared
SGlancy12 : But 110 MPs will be here in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Lundquist : We know they’ve at least got automatic weapons and
grenades.
SGlancy12 : The JetRanger didn’t have any external weapons pods.
Dee : Yeah. They probably have plenty of small-arms
firepower, but not much bigger than that.
Dee : Okay, the Blackhawk will hold 11 passengers: us, the
four MPs, and four other MPs?
Lundquist : I think it would be best to hit them once they’ve
boarded their Lear… That way, they’re trapped.
Lundquist : In the chopper, they could just fly away.
Lundquist : On the ground, they could scatter in all directions.
Lundquist : But in the jet, there’s only one door! Easy to
cover.
Dee : That sounds smart.
Dee : It’ll turn into a siege, though.
Dee : Only one way for them to get out–also only one way
for us to get in.
Dee : Not counting cargo doors.
Lundquist : We don’t have to go in. Block the runway, surround
the jet, force them to come out.
Dee : Good enough.
Lundquist : I’m sure when they realize the hopelessness of the
situation, they’ll give up without a fight!
Dee : We need to start thinking of our cover story, too…
to explain the carnage without it
Dee : getting us hauled before some nosy Senators.
Black : terrorist
Lundquist : How’s this: We were in contact with Crisp. He
tipped us off that they were destroying evidence,
Lundquist : and that they were well armed. We needed to get in
quickly and with overwhelming force (hence USAF
Lundquist : personnel).
Lundquist : Unfortunately, we weren’t fast enough, and dangerous
chemicals stored there exploded.
Dee : Due to our overhearing the perps talking about
‘bringing him in’ and all.
Lundquist : I don’t think we should mention that… Could be
illegal wiretap or something. Just say he called us
Lundquist : and told us that they were going to grab him, & he
was scared for his life.
Lundquist : (reasonably so, as it turns out).
Dee : Yeah, that’s true.
Dee : So should we play it up as strictly illegal acts by
ABC, then? Including the Germans?
Lundquist : Play up the illegal acts of ABC. I don’t know if we
should mention the Germans or not…
Lundquist : We can say the SWAT guys were overpaid ABC security
goons.
SGlancy12 : last time I checked, you send Wendell, the NSA snoop
to sit on Lynne Crystal Stone at the RV
SGlancy12 : Correct?
Lundquist : Yes.
Dee : Right.
Dee : She could be another problem… if our official story
doesn’t jibe with what interviewers
Dee : could get from her.
Black : don’t forget about our star witness
Lundquist : All Hard Copy can get from LCS is that her boyfriend
disappeared (which backs up our kidnapping
Lundquist : warrant) and that she saw guys in space suits (which
backs up our charges of bad chemicals).
SGlancy12 : And the MPs and FBI you leave at the plant will keep
people back until the MPs company
SGlancy12 : arrives on the scene.
Dee : That’s the plan.
Dee : Meanwhile, we’re flying with our four MPs.
SGlancy12 : And the other blackhawk with its MPs and FBI too.
SGlancy12 : They have visual contact with the JetRanger.
Dee : How many are on the other blackhawk?
Dee : Could be.
SGlancy12 : 1st Blackhawk: 3 crew, 2 FBI, 5 MPs. 1 M60.
Dee : Okay.
Lundquist : We could also arrange Witness Protection for her…
tell her her life is in danger, etc etc.
Lundquist : That should keep her quiet!
Black : she’s been demanding it
SGlancy12 : The Jetranger is flying over Glacier National Park.
SGlancy12 : They’ve gone low, they know they’re being followed.
Below radar level.
Dee : Is their course taking them toward the Missoula
airport?
SGlancy12 : Yes.
SGlancy12 : But they’re flying serpintine.
SGlancy12 : Zig-zag.
Lundquist : All the better… We should have no problem catching
them now.
Black : is there any place to set down in the park?
SGlancy12 : Plenty of places.
Lundquist : Make sure the first Blackhawk keeps and eye out for
that!
SGlancy12 : There are several roads and rest areas.
Black : i was afraid of that
Dee : What are the comparative capabilities of the
JetRanger and the Blackhawks?
Dee : Could ours catch up with the JetRanger?
Black : i think it would logic if they set down at the
airport but, we must be ready if they drop in
Black : the park
Dee : Well… it’s not like Dee has never been in the
woods… 😉
SGlancy12 : The Jetranger has a max speed of 138mph. The
Blackhawk is 200 mph.
Dee : “Push it!”
SGlancy12 : “Anyone for Wagner?”
Dee : “Play it loud as you want, as long as we don’t lose
these assholes.”
SGlancy12 : The 1st Blackhawk is giving constant position updates
so you can zero their coordinates.
Dee : Sounds good.
Lundquist : Gotta love GPS.
Dee : In flight, I’ll check out this grenade launcher and
try to think back to my School days…
SGlancy12 : The 1st Blackhawk just radioed that the JetRanger has
stopped. They’re hovering.
Lundquist : Does anyone on that Blackhawk have night vision gear?
Black : where are they hovering?
Black : ir would be better
Black : there is no infrared scanners on board
Dee : How high are they hovering?
SGlancy12 : Over a glacier. About 1000 foot altitude.
Dee : Ah.
SGlancy12 : “Do you want us to close?”
Dee : Glacier, hell. Who brought the spikes and crampons?
😛
Black : not I
Dee : “Close, that’s affirmative.”
Lundquist : “Negative, stay outside of small arms range!”
Lundquist : Oops.
Dee : “Close to 100 meters.”
Lundquist : Should we have the Blackhawk shoot down the Jet
Ranger?
Lundquist : An M60 ought to do it…
Black : fire a warning shot
Dee : Might be very hard to convince them to do it, though,
unless they get shot at.
Lundquist : Tell them they’re killing their hostages.
SGlancy12 : “Closing. Will exercise extreme caution.”
Lundquist : “Be advised they have automatic weapons, possibly
more!”
Dee : This is the first Blackhawk we’re talking to, right?
While we are still approaching?
Lundquist : Yeah.
SGlancy12 : Yes.

[ GAP IN LOG ]

11/9/97 2:06:40 PM Opening “DG PO Game 11/9/97” for recording.

SGlancy12 : “They’ve opened a passenger door.”
Lundquist : Let’s tell them to open fire! I don’t like this!
SGlancy12 : “Holy shit!”
Dee : “Keep talking. What are they doing?”
SGlancy12 : “They just forced some naked guy out onto the right
skid.”
Black : does he have a head?
SGlancy12 : “Goddammit!”
SGlancy12 : “The fucker dropped him!”
Lundquist : Well, should we tell them to shoot him down? I think
they’ll do it now…
SGlancy12 : “They wanted us to see that! They turned the chopper
so the right skid faced us!”
Black : what did the streaker (the nude guy) look like
Dee : I think we should. The only other ‘hostage’ they
have will be Metreux, who was in on it.
SGlancy12 : “Uh, white male. I couldn’t see anymore.”
Black : did the guy have a head?
SGlancy12 : “He had a head. Looks like it might have busted open
when he hit the ice.”
Lundquist : “Shoot them down! Fire at will!”
SGlancy12 : “Yessir. We’ll put ’em on the deck!”
Lundquist : How long till we get there?
Dee : What’s our distance?
SGlancy12 : “Chief! Get the M-60 on the right door!”
SGlancy12 : You’re about 10 minutes away.
SGlancy12 : “Concentrate fire on the engine and rear rotor.”
SGlancy12 : “We’ll go high and parallell, and bank for the
attack. I don’t want any holes in my ride so
SGlancy12 : check your target.”
SGlancy12 : “Shit. Command. We got a situation.”
Dee : “What’s up?”
SGlancy12 : “They’ve turned their right skid to us again. There’s
some naked black woman on the skid.”
SGlancy12 : “I think they want us to back off.”
SGlancy12 : “Do we take ’em down?”
Black : can you establish radio contact with the Bell
Lundquist : “Back off. Kill your navigation lights and keep them
in sight! Make them think you’ve gone away!”
SGlancy12 : “Do you want us to try raising them first?”
Black : yaeh see what they want
Black : can’t hurt to see what the German had on his mind
Lundquist : Heck. we can try to raise them.
Lundquist : I’ll tell our pilot to do so.
Dee : What’s the nearest airport? Missoula?
SGlancy12 : “N8426, you will put your bird on the deck or we have
orders to shoot you down.”
SGlancy12 : “I think not. You like the nigger? Succulent, no?
Perhaps a bit fatty for my taste, but
SGlancy12 : she’ll do in a pinch.
SGlancy12 : “Break off your pursuit or the only ones who’ll get a
taste or her will be the bears.”
Lundquist : Have they resumed flying towards Missoula, or are
they still hovering?
Black : any of you two want to talk to the them
SGlancy12 : “There’s no point testing my resolve. I’ve already
demonstrated it with Mr. Turner.”
Lundquist : I wanna do a psych roll on this guy…
SGlancy12 : Okay. Psych roll.
Black : is this the german talking
Lundquist : (My guess is that he’s being honestly insane…)
SGlancy12 : He has a german accent.
Lundquist : Then he must be bad!
SGlancy12 : What do you want to know.
Lundquist : Call the other Blackhawk on secure military freq.
Tell them to back off, climb up above & behind the
Lundquist : Bell (blind spot), and to continue the pursuit!
SGlancy12 : Blackhawk 1: “Okay, will do.”
Lundquist : And make sure your running lights are off!
SGlancy12 : Blackhawk 1: “Got it.”
SGlancy12 : What do you want to know from your psych roll?
Lundquist : What’s this guy’s mental state? What can I figure
out about him? What are we dealing with?
Dee : I’ll shake my head to Black and Lundquist. “She’s
dead anyway the second they land.”
Dee : “We’ll need to land right on top of them, give them a
reason to keep their hostage alive.”
SGlancy12 : Psych: He means it when he says she looks tasty. To
this guy people are meat and he’ll kill
SGlancy12 : as calmly as you order a burger.
Black : should we talk to mr gault and see if we could push
his buttons into making a mistake
Dee : Not yet. They don’t know for certain yet that there
are two helicopters after them.
SGlancy12 : Psych: He’s confident. As if he planned for this
contingency.
Lundquist : Uh oh. Watch out for Stingers, everybody…
SGlancy12 : Psych: He’s also having fun. High addrenalin and low
fear. Like playing tennis.
SGlancy12 : Blackhawk 1: “we’ve assumed position. We’re 500 yards
out. High and behind ’em”
SGlancy12 : “You want us further back?”
Lundquist : “Use your discretion. Keep them in sight and don’t
let them see you.”
SGlancy12 : Blackhawk 1 “Yessir.”
SGlancy12 : Blackhawk 1: “They’ve resumed course, sir. South by
south-west. Towards Missoula.”
Lundquist : How long till we arrive?
Dee : Did the FBI ever get any police officers to sit on
the jet at Missoula?
SGlancy12 : You’ll be at Blackhawk 1’s position in 15 minutes,
since they’re moving again.
Lundquist : They should be out of sight if they’re there… We
want the Jetranger guys to think we’re their
Lundquist : only problem.
SGlancy12 : Yes. They’re two Missoula PD guys sitting on it now.
Dee : Cripes. Those guys are toast unless we tell them to
call in the cavalry.
Lundquist : Radio them and tell them to get out of sight!
Lundquist : Hide their cruiser in a hangar or something.
SGlancy12 : Okay. What about backup?
Dee : Heh, can we tell them to let the air out of the jet’s
tires first?
SGlancy12 : Probably not a good idea.
Lundquist : Tempting though it is, it’d tip off Galt… I say we
let them think we never knew about their Lear.
Dee : How long until the JetRanger reaches Missoula? And
how long til we do?
Lundquist : And are they still zig-zagging?
Lundquist : And flying NOE?
SGlancy12 : About 50 minutes, they are still NOE and flying
evasively.
Lundquist : Any chance we can get there ahead of them?
SGlancy12 : If you guys get out of the mountains, you could beat
that Jetranger by nine minutes.
Dee : Let’s do it.
Lundquist : Excellent! Pedal to the metal, Captain!
SGlancy12 : You guys fly straight to missoula?
Lundquist : Yes.
Lundquist : Other Blackhawk maintains stealthy pursuit.
SGlancy12 : Where do you touch down?
Lundquist : How about right next to the Lear?
Lundquist : Are there any buildings near there?
Dee : Hell, let’s get into the Lear if there are no signs
that it is occupied.
Lundquist : Ooh… I think that might not be a good idea…
SGlancy12 : The airport is a regional. One small terminal. A five
story tower. Four medium hangers used
SGlancy12 : for maintainence. Other aircraft sit outside.
Lundquist : What about having the local cops disable the other
aircraft at Missoula, so if they try to take one of
Lundquist : them they can’t
Black : has the jet been fueled
SGlancy12 : Dissable? How?
Lundquist : Air out of tires… Something easy to fix.
Black : there are multiple things
SGlancy12 : Okay. There are 21 other aircraft.
SGlancy12 : Mostly small private planes.
Black : one will be to place a rag or something thick in the
fuel cell
Black : the pumps will cause it to cut off the fuel to the
engines
Lundquist : Yeah, that’s probably too many… How about just the
ones that are close to the Learjet?
SGlancy12 : Okay. They’ll see what they can do.
Lundquist : Good.
Black : plus it will look like a fuel or engine problem
Black : they need two engines to take off
Black : if we clog one engine
SGlancy12 : There are no buildings next to the Lear jet.
Lundquist : I’m sure the Lear is fueled. They’d keep it fueled
to prevent buildup of water vapor in the tanks.
Dee : Should we alert the airport directly: get them to
move any planes near the Lear.
Dee : And alert them to respond to any communication from
the Jetranger normally?
SGlancy12 : Why not? Tell the tower not to clear them.
Dee : We could also find out if anyone has been waiting in
the Lear–where the pilots are.
Lundquist : I doubt they’ll even ask the tower for clearance.
They knew they were being pursued.
SGlancy12 : The Missoula PD guys, who’ve been watching since last
night, say the two pilots have been
SGlancy12 : sleeping on the plane.
Dee : I want them to GET clearance to land. I want them on
the ground.
Lundquist : Oh, yeah, the Jetranger… Sure! Definitely!
Dee : What’s the situation wiht the Lear? Was it rented
from a regular company?
Black : hey guys I have a tranq gun if you want to tranq the
pilots
Lundquist : Let’s leave the pilots alone. They’ll radio the Lear
and have them fire up the engines as they
Lundquist : approach. We’ve got to keep it looking natural.
SGlancy12 : Okay. They’ll get permission to land. it might stall
them to refuse clearance to take off.
Lundquist : Maybe the PD guys should stay away from the other
aircraft too… Can’t let the pilots see em.
Black : hey I got a question. what if we arrange for a small
emgency before the lear take off
Black : make it look like a plane is coming in for a
emergency landing
Black : that will force the lear to stay on the ground
Dee : But we can’t let them get on the Lear, or the pilots
will just be two more hostages.
SGlancy12 : You guys will be on the gound in 3 minutes.
Lundquist : The pilots came with them from Uraguay. They’re in
on it.
SGlancy12 : The Missoula PD guys say the Lear is gearing up to
go. They just pulled the wheel blocks.
SGlancy12 : They’re warming up the engines.
Lundquist : I say keep it as normal as possible until they board
the Lear. Then have a UH60 drop down in front
Lundquist : of them when they start to taxi and block them in.
Lundquist : (Remember, there’s no reverse gear on a Learjet!)
Dee : But remember, if the board the Lear, they’ll
definitely have more hostages.
Lundquist : I could care less about those pilots… They’re part
of whatever this thing is.
Dee : I think we need to just count Metreux as a loss, and
take them out when they land.
Dee : Do we know the pilots are in on it? They might just
be charter pilots.
Lundquist : The jet is owned by the shadow company. They work
for it.
Dee : Still… we’re pretty sure Metreux is in on it,
too–deeper than the pilots.
Black : ok lets review our options
Black : before we do anything
Dee : The problem is that the non-DG types will see the
pilots as hostages, not as conspirators.
Black : how long before the bell gets here
Lundquist : This has already become a “cowboy” style
scorched-Earth op. I think we’ve gotta just clean
house.
Dee : I still think we should get aboard the Lear, put guns
on the pilots, and tell them to talk
Dee : normally until their employers land.
Lundquist : Anyway, we’ll tell them to surrender, and only fire
on them if they don’t.
Black : there is two ways we can do it: let them land and try
to take them out when they board the
Black : jet
Black : or take them out as they are approaching the jet
Dee : The more I think about it, I think it would be a
disaster to allow them aboard the jet.
Lundquist : We can always have them shoot
Black : the jet is not that hard to take out. All you have
to do is shoot the engine
Dee : The only way we’ll have to control them at that point
is with the M-60s.
Lundquist : We can always have the Blackhawk shoot them up while
they’re taxiing…
Lundquist : When they’re on the Lear, they’re contained, trapped.
They can’t go anywhere.
Lundquist : Especially if we shoot out the engines as soon as
they board.
Dee : But the pilots, who may or may not actually know
anything about this, will be dead meat.
Black : the problem is do we want to take them alive or dead
Black : this then should dictate the way take them
Lundquist : Well… I just can’t scrape up much sympathy for em,
I’m afraid…
Lundquist : (and this from me, who let Iron Shirt out…)
SGlancy12 : heh
Black : if they are contained on the plane they might take
risk kill themselves and the hostages
Lundquist : I could live with that.
Lundquist : (admittedly, it’s a worst-case outcome though…)
Black : if we hit them we they are crossing to the plane an
hit them then we might get in a gun
Black : fight but might take one or two alive
Dee : Another thing to remember is that most of our
firepower are not DG.
Dee : They will want a semblance of acceptable behavior.
Lundquist : And we don’t have enough people to adequately seal
off the area. Hence the reason why I want them
Lundquist : sealed in their jet.
Lundquist : Remember, we’re not going to shoot first, except to
(maybe) disable the engines… We’re going to
Lundquist : demand a surrender.
Lundquist : That puts the ball in their court.
Dee : But I think we should do so while they only have one
apparent hostage.
Dee : Not when they have three.
Black : it will turn it a hostage situation then. And I hope
that the plane doesn’t blow up
Lundquist : A hostage situation is OK. Gives us time to call in
reenforcements. Then they can’t get away.
SGlancy12 : Where are you parking the Blackhawk.
Lundquist : Out of sight, behind a hangar, rotors going.
SGlancy12 : Remember the 2nd blackhawk too.
Lundquist : Yeah. He can drop in and block the jet’s taxi, if
need be.
SGlancy12 : Okay. When you hit the ground. Then what?
Dee : The other Blackhawk should stay in the air.
Lundquist : Yeah.
Lundquist : We should hide. As close to the Lear as we have
cover.
Dee : So, what’s the plan? Just sit tight and wait for
them to board their jet?
Lundquist : If you’re cool with that…
SGlancy12 : Missoula PD reports both pilots are on the lear now.
Black : guy remember I do have a tranq gun
SGlancy12 : Its starting to taxi.
Lundquist : I’m just afraid that we’ll lose some of them and get
stuck with a manhunt if we try to grab them in
Lundquist : the open… Too uncontrolled.
SGlancy12 : You can hear the tower chatter on the radio. The lear
isn’t cleared to take off.
SGlancy12 : The airport is in visual range.
Lundquist : Our Blackhawk should be ready to block the Lear’s
taxi as soon as we call for it to do so (with the
Lundquist : doorgun manned).
SGlancy12 : The lear is taxiing out. Do you put down behind a
hanger?
SGlancy12 : It’s about 100 yards from the runway.
Lundquist : Yeah. Radio tower on secure freq and tell them not
to call us!
SGlancy12 : Done.
Dee : I still don’t like it.
SGlancy12 : The Blackhawk hits asphalt.
Dee : I’ll go along, but I don’t like it yet. 🙂
SGlancy12 : Do you and your 8 MPs pile out?
Lundquist : Does the pilot understand that he is to physically
block the Lear’s runway with his aircraft as soon
Lundquist : as he is told to do so? (Our UH60 pilot, thatis)
SGlancy12 : Yes.
Black : take out the engine
Black : I think mr galt is willing to play chicken
SGlancy12 : Now?
Lundquist : Yeah, his doorgunner should disable the engines at
his earliest opportunity as well.
Black : with the copter
SGlancy12 : As soon as he dusts off or when the Jetranger touches
down?
Lundquist : As soon as the door closes on the Lear.
Dee : If the Lear starts accelerating for a take-off, we
should block it.
Black : grab a car then
Dee : Including if the Lear starts taking off before the
Jetranger lands.
Lundquist : He should also be ready for them to try and rush his
aircraft. If he’s blocking them, they might
Lundquist : want to take his aircraft.
Lundquist : We’ll be firing on them too if that happens.
SGlancy12 : Okay. You have 8 minutes before the Jetranger
arrives.
SGlancy12 : What do you do?
Lundquist : Have the PD guys waiting with engine going ready to
block runway as well if need be.
SGlancy12 : They’re ready. there’s still only 2 of them.
SGlancy12 : They have one shotgun and 9mm pistols.
Lundquist : That’s OK. It’s their car in the runway that
matters.
Dee : We’re saved.
Lundquist : I brief the MP’s. Several of them should circle
around the far side of the Lear in case someone
Lundquist : breaks a window and tries to get out that way.
SGlancy12 : The lear is 200 yards away and moving into takeoff
position.
Dee : If the Lear is in the open, the MPs will be open
targets once the Germans get aboard.
Black : I think that one or two should ride with the police
so if one bolts wheels are faster than
Black : foot
Lundquist : Yeah, good point… We need to get some lights on
the jet, blinding them. Can we comandeer some
Lundquist : airport vehicles?
Black : this is commercial right
SGlancy12 : The airfield is flat and clear of obstructions.
SGlancy12 : Lights? There’s the PD spotlight. Plus the ones on
the Blackhawks.
Lundquist : OK. If the runway is blocked, the PD car should
circle around the side of the jet with no door
Lundquist : and act as cover for the MP’s there.
Dee : How thick are the walls of a Lear? What kind of
ammunition will they stop?
Lundquist : They won’t stop anything.
Lundquist : (Maybe 1 or 2 points, my guess)
Black : the only equipment you going to find is high speeds,
carts, a push back tractor, fuel truck
Black : that is if this is a commerical airport
SGlancy12 : You want to use a fuel truck as cover?
Lundquist : Yeah… Still, it’s cover for our MP’s. Let them
drive a light truck or something, dismount, use it
Lundquist : as cover. And no, not a fuel truck
Dee : I still think we should take them down before they
get to that jet…
Lundquist : Well, that option’s still open…
Black : no but, the push back tractor would work
Black : its huge
SGlancy12 : There are push-back tractors and a maintainence
truck.
Lundquist : But it’s going to start a running firefight, and we
don’t exactly have numerical superiority here…
Lundquist : (I mean, not overwhelming superiority)
SGlancy12 : You have 2 PD, 8 MPs and you three. Plus a Blackhawk
with a M60?
SGlancy12 : You wuss.
Black : if we could get a push back tractor then we could use
it for cover
Black : (trust me I used to work on the ramp at Dulles)
Lundquist : And another Blackhawk full of guys arriving right
behind the bad guys.
Dee : Right. We have access to two heavy machine guns if
we need it.
SGlancy12 : You have 5 minutes before they arrive.
Dee : We can make the firefight last about five seconds if
we want to.
Lundquist : What do you propose, Dee? Just hit them in the
open? You think our MP’s will be willing to take
Lundquist : the first shots?
Lundquist : The idea does have some merit…
Black : If we can get two push back tractors and use them as
cover for the mps
Dee : I think once they land the Jetranger, we let them
know, “Surrender or die.”
Dee : If they fail to surrender, then we shoot the hell out
of them.
Lundquist : What about shooting up the Jetranger as it comes in
for a landing? Then shoot up anyone who tries
Lundquist : to get out of the wreck.
Black : I think they will die first
Lundquist : (and that MP captain called this a shoestring
operation… Ha! If he only knew…)
SGlancy12 : Jeez, Lundquist really must hate return fire.
Dee : As for the MPs, just tell them that our targets have
automatic weapons and a mounting bodycount.
SGlancy12 : The MPs are ready to kick ass. Remember these goons
shot at them at the plant and the MPs
SGlancy12 : held their fire.
SGlancy12 : You have four minutes.
Black : can we get the tractors
SGlancy12 : Yes.
Lundquist : OK, that’s good enough for me then… If our MPs are
ready to shoot these guys up, then this could
Lundquist : work. How do you feel, Black?
Dee : The problem is going to be getting the Blackhawk in
the air and over the jet before they can
Dee : get aboard.
Black : I think keep the the Blackhawks ready but we need to
get the police cars or some to block
Black : the runway
Black : possible have a accident or something. Because if we
fail to block them
Black : they are free to take off
Black : and then out of our hands
Lundquist : Yeah, the Police car might make the best roadblock.
Dee : The police have only one car and two officers, who
will be shot to shit if the Germans land
Dee : and find them in the way.
SGlancy12 : Do you send the PD to block the runway?
Lundquist : No. We’re 100 yards from the Lear, right?
Black : how about the fire department
Black : act like emergency is taking place
SGlancy12 : 200.
Lundquist : Can we get any closer?
Lundquist : Let’s grab a vehicle and get closer.
SGlancy12 : Sure but the airfield is flat and open. Atleast its
dark.
Black : I have to amit we might not have time
Black : that’s why I want to get two tractors
Black : for cover for the mps
Lundquist : We grab those tractors right now. We can always just
keep them in reserve if need be.
SGlancy12 : The tractors here are small. They don’t get planes
bigger than regional commuters.
Lundquist : I tell the MP’s that as soon as the guys get off the
Jetranger they are to shoot out the engines on
Lundquist : the Lear with their M16s. They ought to be able to
make that shot at 200 yards (at least one of them)
Lundquist : Disabling the Lear is of paramount importance.
SGlancy12 : You have three minutes. Do you appraoch?
Dee : The M-60 will be much better for that kind of fire.
Lundquist : Then use it too. Overkill, overkill!
SGlancy12 : Did you send the PD to block?
Dee : Right now, all of our people are still with us aboard
the blackhawk, which is on the ground
Dee : behind a hangar, right?
Black : as a back up take the bell out as it lands as well so
they can’t scrabble back to it
Lundquist : PD should be waiting, engine going, ready to move if
need be.
Black : I ride with one to the police officers to direct the
police blockade
Lundquist : Good idea.
SGlancy12 : okay. But the lear is in takeoff position . . .
waiting.
Dee : We won’t have time to get a tractor or something in
front of the Lear.
Black : we want the blockade as close as possible
Black : not to allow it enough speed and room to take off
Lundquist : It’ll still take them a minute or two to get everyone
transferred from the Bell. In that time,
Lundquist : we hit them.
SGlancy12 : Okay.
Dee : If we get into the air with lights off, will the
Jetranger spot us?
SGlancy12 : Maybe?
SGlancy12 : You have two minutes. You can see the JetRanger.
SGlancy12 : Its coming in fast.
Black : I get in the police car getting ready to roll
Dee : Crap. All we’re going to be able to use before they
get aboard the Lear is the M-60.
SGlancy12 : Okay. You have 60 seconds.
SGlancy12 : Black is with two nervous PD officers.
Black : we are rolling the police car no red light
Lundquist : It’ll have to do… Make sure our pilot is ready to
block that runway!
SGlancy12 : Okay. You have 30 seconds
SGlancy12 : 20
SGlancy12 : 10
Black : I tell the officer if the plane gets too close run
for the hills
SGlancy12 : The jetranger touches down. 5 men in black commando
gear spill out and run to the lear.
Lundquist : Let’s go! Go! Go! Go!
SGlancy12 : No black woman is with them.
SGlancy12 : Go? Where? Out of the chopper.
Black : Driving into to postion
Lundquist : No, fly the chopper to block the jet!
SGlancy12 : Black is moving to block.
SGlancy12 : Okay the Blackhawk takes off.
SGlancy12 : You are moving towards the lear.
Lundquist : The other blackhowk should shoot up the jetranger
asap as well.
SGlancy12 : What a coincidence. They must have had the same
thought. You’re taking small arms fire.
SGlancy12 : You hear no gunshots.
SGlancy12 : The M60 speaks up loud and clear.

[ Dee has left the chat ]

SGlancy12 : Do we wait for him?
Lundquist : Yikes! What a time for Dee to get knocked off…
Lundquist : Let’s give him a minute or two?
Black : we have to its the climax
SGlancy12 : Okay. Hold still for 3 minutes.
SGlancy12 : Okay. That’s three minutes.
SGlancy12 : We move on.
SGlancy12 : The M60 opened up an punched a bunch of holes in the
lear’s tail and left side jet engine.
SGlancy12 : The Blackhawk banks and turns the right side towards
the jet. Three MPs and the m60 open up.

[ Dee has joined the chat ]

Dee : Grrrrr.
Dee : What did I miss?
SGlancy12 : The lear just took hits in the tail and engine.
Lundquist : That’s all you missed.
SGlancy12 : The Blackhawk just banked to present a broadside.
Dee : Have we lifted off?
SGlancy12 : You are 70 yards out.
Dee : What are the bad guys ™ doing?
Lundquist : Shooting back…
SGlancy12 : Yes. Airborne. The goons are firing back with
silenced weapons.
Dee : Heh heh, how naughty of them.
SGlancy12 : The 3 MPs are blazing away with m16s
Lundquist : 70 yards ought not to be enough runway… Should we
set down and dismmount here?
Dee : Is there room for me to go prone at the doorway and
take aim?
Black : How far away is the jet from the blockade
SGlancy12 : There are sparks and dust being blown out of the
runway.
Dee : And, are the Germans trying to get aboard the jet?
SGlancy12 : The Blackhawk is airborne and taking fire. Not
landing.
SGlancy12 : Black and the cops are roaring up at about 70 mph
to block.
SGlancy12 : There germans are running for the jet and shooting.
It’s starting to roll down the runway.
Dee : Where is the other Blackhawk now?
Lundquist : And can we drop our Blackhawk in front of the Lear?
SGlancy12 : You could but you’ll take auto-fire at point blank
range.
Dee : “Gunner! Fire on the perps!”
Lundquist : Tell the pilot to use the lear itself to mask us from
the commando’s return fire.
SGlancy12 : The Blackhawk flies over the lear and banks to give
you guys at shot at the right engine.
SGlancy12 : This puts the lear between you and the commandos.
Lundquist : “Gunner! Fire on the engine!”
Dee : Heh.
SGlancy12 : Two MPs open fire.
Lundquist : Can we put the chopper down to block the lear
(diagonally, with the tail boom maybe?)
Dee : Looking at the Lear, can I get a clear idea of where
the passenger door is from the other
Dee : side?
Dee : As we pass from one side to the other.
SGlancy12 : One guy must pranged it ‘cuz it just belched flame
and smoke.
Lundquist : “Great! Now shoot up the Jetranger!”
SGlancy12 : Yes the passenger door is near the front, in front of
the wing, behind the cockpit.
SGlancy12 : No clear shot on the jet ranger. The other Blackhawk
just swept down out of the night.
Dee : All right. I’ll target it, through the far side of
the Lear, and open up with the MP.
Dee : Firing through the Lear, since I’ve heard recently
that it’s walls should be too thin to
Dee : block small-arms fire.
Lundquist : Heh heh… Good idea.
SGlancy12 : What weapon Dee?
Dee : The MP5SD.
Dee : Targetting with laser sight to get my bearings, then
full auto.
Dee : Targetting through the far wall of the lear at the
passenger door.
SGlancy12 : Black, you and the cops are parked in the middle of
the runway 50 yards in front of Lear.
Dee : Bursts of eight.
SGlancy12 : How many bursts?
Dee : I’ll fire two bursts, to get the message across.
SGlancy12 : The bullets sure look like they go through it like
butter.
Dee : Then I’ll keep my sight on it, in case they keep
going up toward the door.
Black : have the cops take a position behind the cars.
Question is the jet still rolling?
SGlancy12 : The MPs are still shooting the engines and the tail is
disintegrating.
SGlancy12 : Yes its still rolling. Its right engine is on fire.
Lundquist : That’ll work. “Okay! Kill the perps!”
Dee : I’ll nudge the MP next to me, and indicate my target.

SGlancy12 : The 2nd Blackhawk wants orders.
Lundquist : “Fire on the jetranger! Be ready to pursue it if it
takes off!”
Black : If the jet gets within 30 yrds I have the cops run
for it
SGlancy12 : The MPs start blazing away at the area behind the
cockpit.
Dee : Are they still trying to get aboard the jet? I’ll
ask over the radio if I can’t see.
Black : I pull out my colt delta elite
SGlancy12 : Black: Some guy in black cammo gear just got blown
backwards out of the lear’s door.
SGlancy12 : Black. It looks like all but two got on the plane.
Black : does it look like they were hit
SGlancy12 : KA-BOOOOOM!!!
Lundquist : Uh oh…
Dee : Well, you see, Senator, it was like this…
Black : I hate it when I am right.
SGlancy12 : The Jetranger chopper, its engines still running,
explodes as the 2nd Blackhawk’s team dumps
SGlancy12 : about 200 rounds into it.
Lundquist : I love it when a plan comes together.
SGlancy12 : Big fire ball.
SGlancy12 : The lear is headed right towards Black and the
cops.
Dee : How about we raise the Lear? Stand down and
surrender or else.
Lundquist : We might have to buy the Missoula PD a new cruiser
after this one, guys…
SGlancy12 : No answer.
Black : I tell the officers to run
Dee : All right, I target the cockpit.
Black : how close is the lear now
Dee : Sight with the laser, then burst of six.
SGlancy12 : The two guys on the ground are running across the
airfield towards the highway.
SGlancy12 : 30 yards.
Dee : Then, “Raise them again, repeat the order!”
SGlancy12 : No answer.
Dee : Crap, two on the ground…
Lundquist : Tell the second chopper to pursue the runners.
SGlancy12 : What’s your targer Dee?
Dee : I tell the rest of the crew next to me: “Target the
cockpit. I want a hole in the roof!”
Lundquist : A convertable Learjet
Lundquist : “Don’t let them reach the highway! Shoot them!
They’ll take hostages of they can flag down a car!”
Dee : Heh, I wonder if there’s a kid with a police scanner
listening in…
SGlancy12 : The 2nd Blackhawk reels around to pursue them.
SGlancy12 : The bullets crash through the fusalage into the
cockpit.
Black : how is the road block
Black : can the jet manuever around only one car
SGlancy12 : What road block?
Black : the police cars
SGlancy12 : That’s car. There’s only 1.
SGlancy12 : Dee: the MP next to you just put a M16 burst into
the cockpit.
Dee : Good lad.
Lundquist : Yeah, put him in for a Silver Star.
SGlancy12 : Bust caps jack! Waste that gook! Torch that hooch!
Black : scott how far are the two guys that are run.
SGlancy12 : The wounded guy limping is only 20 yards.
SGlancy12 : The other is 40 or 50, going at a dead run.
Black : I will run after him with my gun drawn
Dee : On foot, Black?
Black : yeah, I have to leave the car as a saftey net
SGlancy12 : The Lear is closing on the PD cruiser.
Dee : Might as well drive after them both–the jet’s not
stopping anyway.
Lundquist : Yeah, but the wreck will stop the lear for good.
SGlancy12 : 20 yards
Dee : I guess so. Black and the cops do need to get out of
there, then.
SGlancy12 : 10 yards. Hey Black? Did you clear the cruiser with
the cops?
Black : yes, a long time ago.
Lundquist : Blackhawk 2 can disgorge its troops between the
runner and the highway… They can block his esape.
Lundquist : Veritical envelopment.
Black : when the jet hit about 30 yrds I told them to go
SGlancy12 : The cockpit looks like swiss cheese. There are
bullet holes in the bottom of the fuselage.
SGlancy12 : The limping guy is 15 yards from Col. Black.
SGlancy12 : CRASH!! The lear plows into the cruiser!
SGlancy12 : Sparks fly as it snaps its front landing gear and
pushes the cruiser sideways.
Black : I will draw my tranq gun to take aim and firing
SGlancy12 : The two tangled wrecks veer off the runway.
Black : at limping man
SGlancy12 : You miss. Luckily he doesn’t seem to notice.
Lundquist : “Pilot! Put us down!”
Black : i will try to fire again
SGlancy12 : The Lear is smoking bad. You see a fire on board.
SGlancy12 : “Yessir.” the blackhawk is down.
Lundquist : Dismount and encircle the learjet.
Lundquist : Is the cabin door open?
Lundquist : Any life in the cockpit?
SGlancy12 : Yes cabin door is open.
SGlancy12 : No movement. The cockpit is full of smoke.
Lundquist : “Want to go in there, Dee?”
SGlancy12 : Black. You hit the guy in the leg.
Black : it has a pot of 14
SGlancy12 : He starts and falls into the grass. Oops I mean arm.
right arm.
Dee : Does it look like there’s fire near the fuel tanks?
Lundquist : “We might not have much time…”
SGlancy12 : Yes. The fire started in the engines.
SGlancy12 : It could go any second.
Dee : Hell with that, then.
Lundquist : Has our second chopper blocked the other runner yet?
Dee : If there’s a loudspeaker on board, we can yell at
them.
Lundquist : Yeah. Make sure our people are well back. Is the
airport fire department responding?
SGlancy12 : The report is the guy opened up with a silenced SMG
and hit three guys (thank god for kevlar
SGlancy12 : They blew him to shreds.
Dee : Otherwise this mess is finished except our two
runners and zipping up the bodybags.
SGlancy12 : an m60, 2 mp5s and 5 M16s. Messy.
Black : is limping boy down?
SGlancy12 : Yes.
Dee : So, we got one live captive, maybe.
Black : I approach him carefully
SGlancy12 : No airport fire department.
SGlancy12 : The regular fire dept may be on the way.
Lundquist : Oh well.
Dee : Might as well call for them, just to be official.
Lundquist : I’m sure the control tower already has.
SGlancy12 : There’s an external speaker on the Blackhawk and a
spotlight. It was designed for search and
SGlancy12 : rescue not combat.
Lundquist : Tell whoever’s on board to come out at once. Tell
them we won’t fire if they come out with their
Lundquist : hands up.
Black : When I get close I am going to study him to make sure
the tranq to effect. If he moves i
Black : hit with another tranq
SGlancy12 : Black. The guy is lying on his back.
Dee : Tell the pilot. “Get on the loudspeaker. Tell them
to get out and on their faces, if any
Dee : are still alive in there.”
SGlancy12 : Nobody come out on the plane. Its really starting to
burn!
Lundquist : And the Jetranger is a total write-off as well? No
survivors?
Dee : I’d love to get a look inside, but it’s not worth
getting blown up.
Lundquist : Yeah, me too…
SGlancy12 : Black, the guy is young and blonde. He’s staring at
the sky and hyperventilating.
Dee : Can our pilot estimate how long till the fuel
explodes? Any second now?
SGlancy12 : He’s holding a hand grenade.
Dee : Ack!
Black : is the pin pulled
SGlancy12 : Yes
Black : has he released the clasp
SGlancy12 : No, he looks at you, his eyes swimming in tranq juice
“Mein lieb fur mein Fuhrer.”
Black : I approach and grab his hand to make sure he does not
let go of it
SGlancy12 : He’s releasing his grasp as he speaks.
Black : I diving for it
SGlancy12 : You land on top of him, the spoon just went flying.
You’re holding a live grenade.
Black : throw it
Black : this is going to hurt
SGlancy12 : KABOOM!
SGlancy12 : Shrapnel goes everywhere!
SGlancy12 : Black is unmarked.
Dee : Whoohoo!
SGlancy12 : And he managed not to throw it into the Blackhawk.
SGlancy12 : The kraut passes out.
Black : I secure him making sure he does have anymore
surprises
Black : after that then use medicine to make sure he is
stable and not dying
SGlancy12 : The Lear is boiling with flame. A flaming scarecrow
crawls to the door and flops onto the
SGlancy12 : runway.
Dee : I’ll ask our pilot again–“How long til that jet’s
fuel goes up?”
SGlancy12 : BA-DA-BOOM!! The fuel tanks just went up.
Dee : Oh… boiling with flame… heh, nevermind.
SGlancy12 : “About now.”
SGlancy12 : The Jetranger blew up, but isn’t burning. It’s fuel
tanks were done dry.
Lundquist : No survivors, then?
SGlancy12 : Dry tanks explode, full tanks burn.
SGlancy12 : There’s no one in the Jetranger’s wreckage.
SGlancy12 : The Lear might have to wait for tomorrow for a
search.
SGlancy12 : A bit warm.
Lundquist : Ok, guys, I think the shooting’s over. Damage
control time.
Lundquist : Several things to do: Make sure the area is indeed
secure.
Lundquist : Get Black’s prisoner someplace safe.
Lundquist : Get the fires put out.
SGlancy12 : The fire dept and half the Missoula PD is on the way,
judging by the sirens.
Dee : Find out how many casualties we had at the plant, and
here.
Lundquist : Get the situation at the ABC plant under control.
Lundquist : Recover the body dropped from the helo.
Lundquist : Last, but definitely not least, make up a cover story
to explain all of this.
SGlancy12 : Hey, y’know Lundquist just thought of something.
SGlancy12 : Galt arrived with six men.
Dee : First thing to tell the cops and air force: We
didn’t know that the ABC perps would react
Dee : with this kind of firepower or violence.
SGlancy12 : Seven including him.
Dee : Uhhh… and how many did we just shoot to bits?
Lundquist : We killed one at the plant… five here?
SGlancy12 : You only saw five leave the Jetranger. And no
Metreaux.
Lundquist : Uh oh.
Dee : Gah.
Dee : So did they get dropped someplace while the Jetranger
was in the air?
SGlancy12 : Good question.
Dee : Guess we need to get into the Jetranger after all, to
be sure it’s empty.
Lundquist : The other Blackhawk was following them the whole way!
Did it see anything?
Dee : I’ll tell the Blackhawk to land, if it hasn’t already
done so.
Lundquist : I want to find the senior Missoula police guy asap.
Dee : BTW, what happened to the Flaming Scarecrow? Did he
die properly?
SGlancy12 : After the plane exploded on top of him?
SGlancy12 : Its dental records time for that guy.
SGlancy12 : The other Blackhawk lands.
SGlancy12 : The other crew says they never saw the jetranger
land. If someone got off, they either used
SGlancy12 : a parachute at less than 500 feet or fastlined to the
ground while the chopper was moving.
SGlancy12 : Neither case seems sane or likely.
Dee : Sane and Likely don’t apply to much about these
idiots…
Lundquist : Especially not in mountainous, wooded terrain.
SGlancy12 : Lundquist: What do you want with Missoula PD? They sure
want to know “WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?”
Lundquist : Still, I find the senior police guy. And grab a
navigational chart from the chopper pilot.
Dee : All right. “Wish me luck.” I’l pile out and hoof it
over to the remains of the Jetranger.
SGlancy12 : You got it Lundquist.
Lundquist : “Calm down! My name is Brian Lundquist, and I’m a
Federal attorney! We have a very dangerous fugitive
Lundquist : on the loose and we need to get a manhunt underway!”
Lundquist : I pull out the chart. “You need to coordinate with
state troopers, park police, whoever. He’s on
Lundquist : foot, came down somewhere in this area from a
helicopter!” I indicate the jetranger’s flight
Lundquist : path on the chart.
Lundquist : “There’s two of them. A white guy, age unknown,
German accent. And a black woman with a Jamaician
Lundquist : accent.”
Lundquist : “We need to apprehend them asap!”
SGlancy12 : “okay” says the PD LT. “Who is this guy? Dr.
Mengele?”
Lundquist : “At least!”
SGlancy12 : “Huh?”
Lundquist : “He’s wanted for the murders of multiple persons.
He’s armed and extremely dangerous. He probably ha
Lundquist : has some sort of military training. Assume he’s in
good shape, physically. That’s about all we know.”
Lundquist : (Even if our chances of catching this guy are slim,
keeping the locals too busy to ask questions can’t
Lundquist : hurt)
SGlancy12 : Lundquist, the Blackhawk pilot has a stupid idea.
Lundquist : “What’s you idea, pilot?”
SGlancy12 : “There was no place for that prick to bail out over
land, but we did cross a lake.”
SGlancy12 : “He could have jumped into the water.”
SGlancy12 : “Or fastlined. Nice soft landing.”
Dee : Oboy.
Dee : Do I spy anything interesting in the Jetranger’s
remains?
Lundquist : Okay, guys, want to saddle up and go check out that
lake?
SGlancy12 : Yes there’s some badly damged suitcases.
Dee : Are they damaged enough for me to tell what is inside
them?
SGlancy12 : Clothes are spilling out.
Black : I asking around to see if anyone knows german
Dee : Nuts. I’ll reach in and haul them out, one at a
time, with my left hand.
SGlancy12 : Most cops and MPs go “Huh?” One guy knows how to ask
for a blowjob in german!
Black : If i find someone I ask them what “Mien lieb fur mein
Fuhrer” means
Dee : I’ll fling them to the ground. When they are out of
the way I’ll visually inspect the
Dee : wreckage again.
Black : dee or lunquist do either you know german?
SGlancy12 : “That means `My life for my leader.'”
Black : who tells me this
SGlancy12 : A Missoula cop. He says he doesn’t know german, but
that’s an SS oath. He’s a WWII buff.
SGlancy12 : Dee, there are weapons and empty cases that smell
like c-4.
Lundquist : Wow… I guess Iron Shirt wasn’t kidding when he
called Galt a Nazi!
Dee : Are the weapons hot? Any spare MP5 magazines or
boxes of 9mm ammo?
SGlancy12 : The weapons are H&K SSDs and H&K VP-70Zs. Silenced
and full auto.
SGlancy12 : They appear damaged.
Dee : I just want bullets, actually. But if none are in
sight I’m not going to go searching.
SGlancy12 : There is some ammo too. Since the chopper didn’t burn
the ammo didn’t bake off.
Dee : Whether it’s boxes or whatever, I’ll grab it. Then
climb off the wreck.
SGlancy12 : Oh Look! The local TV crew is here!
Dee : Then I’ll kick the suitcases open and see if there’s
anything besides clothes.
Black : I call Lunquist over and ask him what do you want to
do with the prisoner. This is your
Black : area of knowledge
SGlancy12 : There a book. It had a swastika on the cover with a
dragon curled around it. Its wings spred
Lundquist : Put him in a patrol car for now. Make sure somebody
keeps an eye on hi,
Lundquist : him. And handcuffs, footcuffs, everything we can
scrape up.
SGlancy12 : His leg wound needs a doctor.
Dee : Grab the book. If there’s nothing else besides
clothes, I’ll run back to the Blackhawk.
SGlancy12 : You run to the blackhawk.
Black : He has been tranqed. It should ware off in a little
while
Lundquist : Have two or three FBI guys control the TV crews. Let
them film the wreckage, but not talk to anyone!
Lundquist : And make sure that he’s on a suicide watch! Can we
check his teeth for cyanide capsules?
SGlancy12 : Okay. What next.
Black : I’m a doctor
SGlancy12 : You go through his clothes?
Dee : Better yet, tell them this is a crime scene and to
stay the hell out of the way…
Dee : What next: after I hear about the lake, we need to
head that way.
Lundquist : Yeah. I figure throw them a bone by letting them
film the wreckage, keep them busy and distracted.
Black : I take a look at the man’s leg
SGlancy12 : Anybody figure Drake might want to know about this?
Lundquist : Yeah, I was just about to call him up…
SGlancy12 : Its a 5.56mm wound. The bone isn’t broken.
SGlancy12 : But the thigh muscle has lost alot of tissue.
Black : I’ll do what I can for now
Dee : There should be paramedics, if the fire dept. has
arrived.
Dee : We need to get airborne. 🙂
SGlancy12 : He needs surgery to close stop the bleeding.
SGlancy12 : The EMTs want to go to work on him.
Black : we need him to be watched by police 24 hrs
Black : this guy is dangerous
Lundquist : We’d better let them… You guys have any
objections?
SGlancy12 : And the MPs and FBI at the plant ruins need orders.
What do say to press and superiors?
Black : I think that we might find her body but, not galt
Black : I think he’s gone
Dee : Maybe, but I want to look for myself.
Black : we need to get drake in on this and coordinate
SGlancy12 : Who calls Drake?
Dee : Lundquist, maybe you should stay here to try to keep
things under control.
Lundquist : I guess I will.
Dee : I don’t want to split up, but we now have two major
emergency scenes to deal with.
Black : well, I can go to the hospital with this guy. Dee
you can go search and Lunquist could do
Black : pr with drake?
Black : i don’t want to lose this guy. After all I almost
blew up saving this guy.
Lundquist : Yeah, I think we need to split up and do damage
control at this point…
Lundquist : Black should go with his prisoner. We’ll arrange
transport to a secure hospital as soon as he’s
Lundquist : stabilized.
Lundquist : Dee, can you get back to ABC and get things under
control there?
Lundquist : I’ll stay here and try to keep a lid on this place.
SGlancy12 : Okay. Col. Black you’re in the ambulance on your way
to the hospital.
Lundquist : I’ll put the senior FBI guy in charge of the manhunt
for Galt. It’s much more his area than
Lundquist : any of ours anyway.
SGlancy12 : What security precautions do you need?
Black : for who?
Dee : I’m going to look for signs of Galt and Metereux
around the lake, Lundquist.
SGlancy12 : Is Dee taking one of the Blackhawks back to ABC?
Dee : Yeah.
SGlancy12 : For the prisoner.
Dee : With ten MPs.
Black : how about taking him to the air focre hosiptal
SGlancy12 : These guys are exhausted but up for it.
Black : we could use one of the black hawks
SGlancy12 : That would work.
Lundquist : Galt ought to be exhausted too. We need to keep the
pressure on him.
Black : i want as tight as secruity for this guy
SGlancy12 : One chopper back to Malmstrom one after Galt?
Lundquist : Yes. See if Malmstrom can send another one here as
well.
SGlancy12 : They can.
Lundquist : And I find a quiet corner and call Drake at the
earliest opportunity. Tell him everything, including
Lundquist : what we plan to do now.
SGlancy12 : Drake is speachless.
Lundquist : I act very innocent on the phone.
SGlancy12 : “We need a cover-story.”
SGlancy12 : “I think ABC can take the fall for this. But we need
to avoid the zombie angle.”
Lundquist : “Simple: Well armed terrorists working within ABC
outside of federal oversight resisted the serving
Lundquist : of a legal search warrant.
SGlancy12 : “They did at that.”
SGlancy12 : “Maybe we can sell the idea that they were mixing
chemical weapons for these terrorists.”
Black : well, we do have the test results of the pollution of
the river
Lundquist : “We play up that we were in contact with Crisp & he
tipped us off as to how well-armed these guys were
Lundquist : so therefore we needed the USAF backup. As for why
we called them the truth will suffice–they were
Lundquist : well armed and they were close.”
SGlancy12 : “Convince everyone we just avoided a Tokyo subway
scenario.”
SGlancy12 : “I’ll go to work on the cover story and start
mobilizing other DG assets.
Dee : (Hopefully I’m in the air by this time–)
Lundquist : “Exactly. By a far-right neo-nazi group.”
SGlancy12 : “You guys don’t have to do everything alone. You
should call more often.”
Lundquist : “Sorry about that. We were on a tight timetable.”
SGlancy12 : You are airborne Mr. Dee and headed towards The
Hungry Horse Reservoir.
SGlancy12 : South of the Hungry Horse Dam.
SGlancy12 : Col. Black, You will soon be touching down at
Malmstrom AFB with your prisoner.
Dee : Tell Drake if he wants to be helpful he can send my
old SEAL team…
SGlancy12 : “I’ll see what we’ve got lying around.”
Lundquist : “We could definitely use an experienced tracker team,
flown to Malmstrom right away.”
SGlancy12 : Lundquist, we’ll see what we can arrange.
SGlancy12 : What are you doing about the situation at Missoula
Airport before you leave.
SGlancy12 : And where do you go afterward . . . there’s an USAF
chopper on the way after all.
Lundquist : I’m not leaving. I’ll stay there, keeping things
under control (lots of fast talk) and wait for Drake
Lundquist : to send cover story backup. The chopper is just to
give me flexibility if I’m suddenly needed
Lundquist : someplace else.
SGlancy12 : Okay Lundquist is stuck until dawn holding off the
press and cops.
SGlancy12 : Dee soon has the Hungry Horse reservoir flashing
below his chopper. You’re flying with the
SGlancy12 : chopper pilot who followed the Jet Ranger.
SGlancy12 : Col. Black, the prisoner survived the chopper ride to
Malmstrom.
SGlancy12 : You rush him to surgery?
Black : yes
Black : i’ll sit in on it as well
SGlancy12 : He survives that too. Looks like about a year of
physical therapy for this guy to walk again
SGlancy12 : What precautions do you take after surgery?
Lundquist : He doesn’t really need to walk again….
Lundquist : Just talk.
Black : i don’t care about that. Make sure there is nothing
he can use to kill himself.
Black : have two mp sit outside the room
Black : I sit inside
Lundquist : (I’ve got about an hour left before I have to bail,
guys… I’m running our local group’s Golden Dawn
Lundquist : campaign tonight…)
Black : watching him
SGlancy12 : Sure thing Lundquist.
Dee : All right. I’ll get the pilot to figure out the path
the Jetranger took over the lake as
Black : I call drake as well to see if he could get a
translator and a extractor over here
Dee : precisely as possible.
SGlancy12 : Extractor? as in extractor of information.
Black : yes
Dee : If they were tracking their coordinates
electronically somehow, then use that.
Dee : Otherwise, just eyeball it: where did he fly over
each shore of the lake.
SGlancy12 : You guys have to put down in the airport in Happy
valley outside Kaspell. Low fuel.
SGlancy12 : You can be back in the air in 20 minutes.
Dee : Then I want to check the time, and figure out how
long ago they flew over the lake.
Dee : Crud.
Dee : No helping it, I guess, unless that other copter can
come and we switch crews.
SGlancy12 : It would have been an hour and 45 minutes ago. The
lake is closer to ABC than Missoula.
SGlancy12 : The Chopper still needs to refuel and can’t make it
back to Malmstrom.
Dee : I meant, if the other copter is already flying out.
SGlancy12 : The state police are notified and are looking too.
SGlancy12 : The only other available copter is with Lundgquist in
Missoula.
Dee : If refuelling is going to be the quickest option
anyway, then we’ll just have to do that.
SGlancy12 : Okay. He heads to the regional airport.
Dee : Meanwhile I’ll look at any maps I can get my hands on
and plot how long the
Dee : trip will take, for us to reach the Reservoir… how
long that will be after the Jetranger
Dee : flew over it.
SGlancy12 : There are two roads they could have headed for. One
circles the reservoir and has one exit.
SGlancy12 : The other is a county road 83 and goes south south
east towards Helena and Missoula.
Black : hey dee or lundquist try to get a helicopter with a
flir system or thermal
Black : the state police might have one
Dee : How long will it take us to reach the lake once we
get airborne again?
SGlancy12 : Another 5 minutes.
SGlancy12 : The lake is 15 miles from the airport.
Lundquist : State police ought to have FLIR-equipped choppers.
Same with park rangers (look for lost
Lundquist : hikers, etc)
Dee : I thought it was closer to ABC than to Missoula?
Dee : Oh, the airport where we’re refuelling, got it.
Dee : So… that figures to about 2 hrs 10 minutes after
they would have dropped.
Dee : What about my night-vision goggles? Are they
thermal/IR based?
SGlancy12 : Into a lake. At night in the mountains.
SGlancy12 : No, they are light intensifiers. Not thermal.
Lundquist : Yeah. LI would be better than nothing, but not as
good as thermal or FLIR
Dee : Well, crap.
Dee : Okay… when we are flying again and over the lake,
can the pilot recall
Dee : exactly where the Jetranger flew over each shore?
SGlancy12 : Dee by dawn you finally see something.
SGlancy12 : There’s something yellow and plasic in the
undergrowth near the south west shore.
Dee : Dawn finally? What a long night this has been.
SGlancy12 : You had the shootout at Missoula around 11pm.
Dee : Hmmm… okay. I signal the pilot to descend. I
guess we’ll need to rappel.
SGlancy12 : The trees are too close to the shore to land. You’ve
have to rappel. Who’s first.
Dee : Heh, I think that would be me. I’ll dump the grenade
launcher and all those hand grenades.
SGlancy12 : Lundquist, Drake radios you that he’s got a DG
“sifter team” disguised as EPA on the way to
SGlancy12 : the ABC plant.
SGlancy12 : He’s also working on that SEAL team for Dee.
Dee : Sling the SMG over my shoulder… look at the MPs:
“Do you boys remember basic?”
SGlancy12 : They exchange worried looks. Dee manages to land on
his feet and and not break his ankle.
Dee : Saving himself much embarassment…
SGlancy12 : They’ll follow in a second.
Dee : I go into complete wary mode at once. Scramble to
cover, ears and eyes peeled.
SGlancy12 : The thing in the bushes is a rubber raft.
SGlancy12 : Its has a spent gas cartidge for instant inflation.
Lundquist : Shouldn’t we get some replacement MP’s from one of
the other security companies at the base? Give
Lundquist : these guys a chance to catch up on their sleep?
SGlancy12 : The MPs are exhausted.
Dee : Clever. And I think I opted for languages instead of
tracking… 😛
Lundquist : Geez… Fast-roping into a lake at night with a
rubber-raft from a moving helo… Who is this guy,
the
Lundquist : evil Arnold Schwarzenegger
Lundquist : or something?
Dee : Southwest shore… how far is each road?
SGlancy12 : The road that circles the reservoir is less than a
kilometer. County 83 is 12 miles away.
SGlancy12 : Dee, at peak performance you could have covered those
12 miles in 2 hours.
SGlancy12 : This is hard terrain.
SGlancy12 : But at night it may have taken longer.
SGlancy12 : Assuming he didn’t get lost.
Dee : So he *could* be on either route. Where does the
res. road lead?
SGlancy12 : South it loops the reservoir and heads north up the
east shore. North it goes to Hungry Horse dam
SGlancy12 : and the small town of hungry horse. There’s
a connection to State rd 89, back to
SGlancy12 : Browning Montana, and west to Kaispell MT and Idaho.
SGlancy12 : Time to call the state police and throw up a ring.
SGlancy12 : You have a starting point and a time radius.
Dee : Right.
Dee : I’ll radio accordingly.
Dee : For the hell of it, I’ll wrack my memory for
long-unused skills and see if I can detect any
Dee : tracks or signs of which way he went.
Dee : Underbrush, etc.
SGlancy12 : The Montana State and county cops are on the case.
SGlancy12 : There are some prints in the sand by the beach.
Dee : Ummm… one set?
SGlancy12 : One set in combat boots. the other is bare foot.
SGlancy12 : Small feet.
SGlancy12 : Combat boots look like size 12
Dee : Do both head toward the raft?
SGlancy12 : They go from the shore into the underbrush near the
raft.
Dee : Right… can I pick up any signs around the raft
itself?
SGlancy12 : No. But you’re no cheyanne scout either.
Lundquist : Metraux ought to be slowing him down. Which is good.
SGlancy12 : Especially if she’s barefoot.
Lundquist : Until he decided to put a bullet in her and dump the
body someplace where it won’t be found for a
Lundquist : while…
SGlancy12 : Time to get the dogs out here!
Lundquist : Definitely.
SGlancy12 : State police can have a team on the spot in three
hours.
SGlancy12 : Then its just follow the scent to the badguy,
Dee : Yeah. Okay. I want to get back in the helicopter
and tell the pilot to fly for Hungry Horse.
SGlancy12 : You got it.
Dee : He should follow the roads.
SGlancy12 : A USAF chopper landing in Hungry Horse is quite an
event. You look like Rambo.
Dee : What flights are heading in or out of the airport
this morning?
SGlancy12 : No sign of activity on the road. But there are
campers and cabins along the shore.
Lundquist : The state troopers need to be checking on those
people. They’re in great danger, I suspect.
Dee : Ack, I got confused. I was thinking of the Happy
Valley airport.
Lundquist : And we need roadblocks all over in case he manages to
steal a vehicle.
SGlancy12 : They’ll stop at every house and knock.
Dee : But yeah… this is close by, and a bunch of prime
targets.
Dee : Vehicles just waiting to be grabbed.
Dee : Have them see if anyone reports a stolen car, as
well.
SGlancy12 : He might have grabbed one before dawn.
SGlancy12 : There are two flights coming in this morning, two
leaving around noon.
Dee : How far is the Happy Valley airport from Hungry
Horse?
SGlancy12 : Its maybe 10 miles.
Dee : Heh. Okay. Is anything unusual with the campers?
Stolen cars? Human sacrifice?
SGlancy12 : It’ll take a while to check them all.
Dee : Have the state police do so, if they have arrived
yet.
Dee : Search each camper and vehicle thoroughly.
SGlancy12 : At 10am the cops arrive at the rubber raft with a dog
team. The troopers are there at 7am
SGlancy12 : checking the camp sites and cabins nearby.
Dee : Good. The troopers can check out the campers while
we fly on to the airport.
Dee : I give the highest-ranking trooper my name and tell
him to reach me by radio
Dee : if anything comes up.
Dee : “And make sure your men search the area well–they
might just be hiding out
Dee : nearby, waiting for a chance to get into one of these
cars.”
SGlancy12 : At 10:30 the troopers find something. On the
reservoir road. South of the raft.
SGlancy12 : Broken safety glass and spent 9mm casings. They smell
fresh.
Dee : Crap.
SGlancy12 : The dogs follow the scent to the same spot.
Dee : Roads go to Hungry Horse, then either Browning or
Kaispell.
Dee : That’s a start, for the cops to focus their
roadblocks. But otherwise… 🙁
SGlancy12 : Col. Black your patient’s 1st task upon regaining
consciousness is to try and tear out his
SGlancy12 : tubes try to get out of bed.
Black : ok. i’ll handcuff him to the bed
SGlancy12 : You are awaken by his tipping over a IV stand.
Lundquist : Get that safety glass sent to FBI for analysis right
away. Try to determine make & model.
Lundquist : Also send shell casings to FBI for analysis. I guess
prints would be too much to hope for…
Black : I make sure both hands are handcuffed down
Lundquist : He needs to be under full restraint & suicide watch.
Black : if I need help I call the mps in. After that I’ll
reattach the tubes
SGlancy12 : Black, he hit you and . . . you lose 9 hit points!
You lose consciousness!
Lundquist : !
SGlancy12 : The last thing you hear are MPs crashing through the
door.
SGlancy12 : You wake up with a Doctor shining a light in your
face.
SGlancy12 : “Don’t speak. Your jaw’s broken.”
Black : I didn’t realize that I have a glass jaw
SGlancy12 : You don’t. He just hit you very VERY hard.
SGlancy12 : You’re not in the prisoner’s room.
SGlancy12 : You’re in another examination room.
SGlancy12 : After a few minutes you see one of the MPs who was
guarding the guy come in with a swollen
SGlancy12 : hand and a bloody mouth.
SGlancy12 : By the way, the application of 1st aid reduced the
damge by 1 point.
Lundquist : (Fifteen minute warning for me, guys…)
SGlancy12 : After a few minutes an MP sergeant comes in and
starts asking what happened.
SGlancy12 : Apparently it took two MPs and three ordelies to
restrain that guy. And at one point he got
SGlancy12 : one of the MPs pistols away and tried to shoot
himself.
SGlancy12 : Luckily there wasn’t a round in the chamber.
Black : how did he stand up?
SGlancy12 : He’s been handcuffed to the bed.
SGlancy12 : He didn’t. He pulled one of the MPs onto the bed with
him.
Lundquist : Can we get an MP with a taser in the room too?
SGlancy12 : Yes that’s possible.
SGlancy12 : They can’t believe it. This guy is like Bruce Lee on
steroids.
Black : How long before the extractor comes
SGlancy12 : He should be arriving in two hours.
Lundquist : Heck, we ought to put something in his IV to just
keep him asleep until we can transport him…
SGlancy12 : Good idea.
SGlancy12 : The docs dope him up.
Lundquist : (of course, we leave the handcuffs on as well…)
SGlancy12 : Damn straight.
SGlancy12 : Anything else before we break?
Black : just remind me to return a favor
SGlancy12 : You’d punch an unconscious man handcuffed to a bed?
Good for you.
SGlancy12 : They’re going to have to wire your jaw by the way.
Lundquist : Yeah, for next time, I want to get lab reports on the
safety glass and I want to pass the head in the
Lundquist : cooler chest over to Drake for safe keeping.
Dee : Are we having a next time?
Dee : Cool by me if we do–I’m having fun. 🙂
Black : I would like to do something else to him
SGlancy12 : If you want to run Galt to ground that’s fine by me.
Lundquist : I like the way this thing keeps changing…
Investigations, raids, chases, manhunts.
SGlancy12 : Head in a cooler? Where’s that?
SGlancy12 : Oh yeah, The one from the lab.
Lundquist : I took it with me in the Blackhawk, I guess, since I
never specified handing it off to anyone.
SGlancy12 : Gotcha.
Lundquist : Is there enough left here to justify another session,
Scott?
SGlancy12 : Oooooooohhhhh yesssssssssssss
Dee : Wow. All right, cool then. Next Sunday?
Lundquist : I mean, I’m not in any mood to crack open a Miller
and let Galt and Metraux run off to Mexico…
Dee : Oh yeah! Is it German?
SGlancy12 : Next Sunday at 1pm.
Dee : Oh well. Sunday, 1pm Eastern sounds good to me.
Lundquist : Next Sunday is bad for me, actually… I’m going to
be in Providence (visiting HPL sites amongst other
Lundquist : stuff)
Lundquist : I don’t think I’ll have AOL access there.
SGlancy12 : What about that book you grabbed Dee?
Dee : Or is it conveniently English, Spanish, or Arabic?
😉
SGlancy12 : Yes in German.
SGlancy12 : The title is MEIN TRIUMF
SGlancy12 : the author . . .
SGlancy12 : Adolf Hitler.
Dee : Hah!
Dee : Oh… which times are good, Lundquist?
SGlancy12 : Okay sunday after next is 11/23 Is that better or is
there a time before then?
Lundquist : That would work for me. I could also make it
Thursday or Friday of that week.
Lundquist : Or Saturday.
SGlancy12 : Those are good for me. Not friday but Saturday and
thursday.
Dee : I like Saturday or Sunday.
Black : so when are playing?
Lundquist : Sat or Sun, which one?
SGlancy12 : Saturday 12 noon EST?
SGlancy12 : November 16th?
Lundquist : I though Saturday the 22nd…
SGlancy12 : Oh okay. Satrday 22nd at 12 noon EST.
Dee : Silly Cthulhu players going to Providence… 😉
Lundquist : Sorry guys…!
SGlancy12 : Before then I’ll be accepting analysis requests.
SGlancy12 : And I’ll get you the extractors report to save time.
Dee : Sounds good!
SGlancy12 : You want Mein Triumf translated
Lundquist : Good enough. See you in two weeks!
Dee : Have fun with Golden Dawn, Lundquist. See you folks
later. 🙂
Black : so we are playing on the 22nd?
SGlancy12 : Yes,
Dee : 22nd it is.
SGlancy12 : ANything else?
Dee : Not for now. See ya.
SGlancy12 : And the rest of you?
Black : are we using the same character? same adventure?
SGlancy12 : If you’d like to play the extractor, send me a
character sheet.
Black : if we are I need some r and r
Lundquist : Saturday the 22nd. See everybody then!
SGlancy12 : Same adventure.
SGlancy12 : Bye Lundquist.
Black : a broken jaw takes a while to heal
Black : take care Lundquist
SGlancy12 : I couldn’t belive it myself. Damn dice.
SGlancy12 : So, Pat. Want to play the “extractor” and go to work
on Mr. Neo Nazi?
Black : sure, I play the extractor
Black : I have to make one up
SGlancy12 : Gooooooooood. Send me a character sheet by next
friday, or I’ll send you one.
Black : ok any kind of agency
SGlancy12 : CIA. Medical background. Probably psychiatrist.
Black : I have a few in mind. Have to look over my dg book
SGlancy12 : heheheheheheh
SGlancy12 : See you all next time then.
Black : and I will avoid pp98
Black : and 106
SGlancy12 : Thanks.
SGlancy12 : Isn’t it great to meet celebrities though?
Black : I knew i heard that name before
Black : yeah, i hate to see what he would do to me
Black : if his henchman broke my jaw
SGlancy12 : Maybe a light butter sauce with chives and mushrooms?
Black : no thanks
SGlancy12 : Rematch next week.
Black : I hope we are not assaulting their compound
SGlancy12 : Delta Green vs. The Boys from Brazil
Black : well, until next time. Hey email me to remind me
when we are play
SGlancy12 : I will.
