MEMORANDUM
TO: OSBORNE
CC: MICHAEL, Agent Borrow
FROM: MARK
TOP SECRET / CODEWORD / DELTA-GREEN / EYES ONLY
Hi, boss.
Well, it's been a busy day, and it ain't near over yet... By now
you'll have heard of what's taken place at Breckenridge's NY office, and
you'll no doubt feel like having us disappeared as quietly as you can,
but rest assured we have no intention of going along with something like
that.
Here's what happened: While investigating the facility, we made
contact with about a half-dozen hostiles with superhuman physical
capabilities. The ensuing firefight was a bloodbath, resulting in the
death of Maddux and a number of law enforcement personnel from both NYPD
and numerous federal agencies. The situation hovered on the brink of
being under our control when an armed stealth helicopter of no known
design appeared and tipped the balance in the favor of the hostiles. It
used overwhelming firepower against us, and carried off the six hostiles
we were fighting with.
I am angry and the gloves are coming off. I'm going to shut down
Breckenridge, as of right now. I'm going to go through Justice to do
this, rather than through our organization, but I wanted to keep you
appraised of our moves. We're drawing up a list of every Breckenridge
office or facility in the whole country and, over the next few hours,
I'm going to have SWAT teams take them all down. They'll be briefed on
the opposition encountered at Breckenridge NY, and will hopefully bring
sufficient firepower to bear to deal with the situation, should they
encounter any more of these "supermen." I then want the FBI to go
through every room, every computer, and every scrap of paper in all of
Breckenridge's offices.
This is going to be a massive undertaking on a national scale, but I
think I'll have little trouble convincing my superiors that it's
warranted in the wake of the insanity in New York today. There are two
goals here: first, to gather what intelligence we can from the raids;
and second, to deny the use of Breckenridge, its facilities, and its
personnel to our adversaries.
Operations at the New York facility are ongoing. We're going to go
through the place with a fine-tipped comb. The following, however, have
our immediate attention:
1. I'm having NYPD get an APB out on that helo. It's undoubtedly
radar-invisible, but I saw it okay with the naked eye; I hope to have
every cop in the city looking up within two or three minutes. It's got
to fly over somebody, who can then call it in, and we can organize a
chase with NYPD helicopters.
2. MICHAEL reminds me that we need to get Maddux's remains away from
the scene, before someone can think to question his identity.
3. Borrow will collect samples of the hostiles' blood (splattered
over the rooftop) for analysis, and will see that none of it gets into
the wrong hands (where it could raise funny questions). Agent Wang's
team will assist as soon as they can arrive on scene. I think we might
be able to get some bits of jaw from one of the guys too, MICHAEL nailed
one pretty good.
4. There were lots of witnesses. This took place in broad daylight
in the middle of a work day. We've got to get NYPD organized to canvas
them for information, see if we missed anything. Furthermore, we're
going to need a clever cover story here; I'm cooking something up and
will have it ready by the 1630 deadline for the evening news.
5. We've got a souped-up Bell Jet Ranger with a spooky antenna fit
here. The baddies were apparently trying to make their getaway in it.
This bird stinks and I want somebody with technical expertise to go over
it. I shot up its electrical system during the fight but we ought to be
able to learn something about what its capabilities are. The tail
number is N2HE2; I'll need whatever information we can get on it
(ownership, etc) from Federal records. I have to see who rounded up the
pilot; we're going to have questions for him.
6. M-Cell would like the following immediately, please expedite:
-- Five or six Benelli semiauto shotguns plus ammo (hollow-point
slugs)
-- Five or six M4 carbines with over/under 40mm grenade launchers,
plus ammo
-- Two Bradley fighting vehicles (armed, with crews)
-- Two MH-6 "Little Bird" gunship helos with Hellfires, rockets, .50
calibers, and miniguns (and skilled pilots)
-- Some of those personal flamethrower units like the guy had who
oversaw my medical examination
-- One of these (for where the Bradleys are too conspicuous):

-- More when I think of it, or as suggested by MICHAEL
Naturally, if you have any questions or concerns, I'd be happy to
discuss them with you at your convenience.
cheers,
--MARK
p.s. No word today from Truth... though I expect that will change
soon enough...
