Six scientists of the United States Antarctic Program live and work at Hydra Station, high on the Antarctic Plateau. They cooperate year-round with researchers in other Antarctic stations and distant universities to study magnetic anomalies, volcanism, biogeochemistry, mycology, bedrock topography, polar astronomy, and the physics of clouds. It is fascinating work. It is good, useful work. It is all a cover for the work they really must do.

They keep a year-round vigil, using their own equipment and reviewing the findings of researchers in other Antarctic stations. They falsify research. They create results and methods to discredit the life’s work of their colleagues and peers.
